Within the series of Surfaces, where the most paintings are primary or secondary colours, notably orange, blue and white, this one I made in a middle ground with the intention of encompassing the energy of orange paintings, the cool of the blue and the calm of white. The result is a skin pink that serves as a background, with splashes of dark blue and red in the foreground. My intention was that they simultaneously trigger the energy of red, the cool of blue and the calm of white.
